TCR cordon

Got out of Goodge Street station and saw that Tottenham Court Road was cordoned off from Chenies Mews onwards. It didn’t seem like the whole stretch was blocked off, but at least up to Howland Street.

Went back, saw some photos and comments on fb and then went on twitter to check.

Apparently in the evening, a van carrying gas canisters had exploded at Euston Road, near Warren Street station, and the entire vehicle caught fire. The driver jumped out of the van just before it exploded and suffered minor burn injuries. ‘Luckily’ for him, University College Hospital was just a stone’s throw away, so I’m guessing he received treatment pretty fast.

My friend commented that this area is full of incidents, and we wonder if it is just the character of this place, or London in general. Almost every few months, something happens along here. The last thing I noted was the bomb scare at Goodge Street station last year.
