Progress

Lead 2 6cs today – first time. Super scary. But happy to say, I held the tiles to clip in for both climbs, although for the first climb, it took me the second try to do that. The first time I did it, I was super scared – of what I didn’t know. But I […]

Rockface Indoor Climbing Centre

On Tuesday, the two girls drove more than 850km from Monkey Mia back to Perth. We set off around 9am, saw the landscape changed several times before we finally reached Perth, about 9 to 10 hours later. Kudos to them. And we learnt some things from the drive — Geraldton’s radio station reaches quite far […]

Lead falls indoors

We have been hard wired to dislike falling. Evolution had made it so. The result being that I never liked to take falls longer than 2m on lead. I hate the feeling of your stomach falling out and the inevitable crash against the wall. And that’s indoors. But you would not be a better climber […]

Urban Ascent versus Kinetics

I used to complain that Urban Ascent is too small, and that I’m in between the grades there and hence there isn’t many things I can climb there. But now, my favourite bouldering place is a centre called Kinetics, that is smaller than the size of my house, that has less routes that I can […]

Falling

Part of the syllabus for the Singapore National Climbing Course, Level 2, is to take lead falls. Specifically, the trailing leg of the climber should be above the last clip. The run out is about a metre, which means the ‘length of fall’ is about 2m. We climbed up to about 8 clips before we […]

Climbers Laboratory

After climbing at Onsight and Climb Asia, I decided to check out Climbers Lab. After all, I was itching to do some leading and I heard that one can use the top-rope ropes to lead at Climbers Lab. How convenient. There are two branches, one at Toh Guan and one at Kallang. Being a Westie, […]

Castle

Such good problems at the castle today. It was pretty empty, didn’t get busy until past 5 or around 6. Quite like some of the routes at The Pen. The panels were pretty hard as usual. But I managed to complete the problems at the Mezz which I couldn’t do the last time, and which […]

Castle

Castle Climbing centre was absolutely packed today.  Been there a couple of times on a Saturday, but I’ve never seen it this packed. Astonished really.  About 15 people at each boulder wall. More than 80% of the topropes being used and plenty of leading going on. Really really crowded.

It was drizzling in the morning when I woke up. The docking station where I usually get my bike from was completely empty. That kind of shocked me. It had never happened before. It is usually quite full. I don’t know why it was so empty today. But since there was another docking station just […]

The Jubilee line is the only line in London that reminds me of Singapore’s MRT lines. Traveling along the Jubilee line sounds exactly like traveling along the underground portions of the MRT tracks in Singapore. I love the spacious platforms along the Jubilee stations. A far cry from the narrow, unprotected platforms on most other […]
